New/OLD Summer Dress for the Little One
I'm currently working on a summer dress for one of the little girls. This is an upcycle project, I'm restyling a skirt/top outfit; I'm converting the shirt into a sundress. I love the fabric and the print, it feels smooth, soft, and is very pretty. Perfect for a New/OLD Summer Dress.

Today is My Special Day
The following is a family song, Las Mananitas. My mom and dad loved this song and shared that loved with us.
This song is a traditional Mexican song that is sung on birthdays and other important holidays/special days. It is often sung as an early morning serenade to wake up a loved one. It's a beautiful song and the words are very meaningful and make you feel good. An English translation is below. Enjoy!!

Translation:
This is the morning song that King David sang
Because today is your saint's day we're singing it for you
Wake up, my dear *, wake up, look it is already dawn
The birds are already singing and the moon has set
Because today is your saint's day we're singing it for you
Wake up, my dear *, wake up, look it is already dawn
The birds are already singing and the moon has set
How lovely is the morning in which I come to greet you
We all came with joy and pleasure to congratulate you
The morning is coming now, the sun is giving us its light
Get up in the morning, look it is already dawn
We all came with joy and pleasure to congratulate you
The morning is coming now, the sun is giving us its light
Get up in the morning, look it is already dawn
The day you were born all the flowers were born
On the baptismal font the nightingales sang
I would like to be the sunshine to enter through your window
to wish you good morning while you're lying in your bed
On the baptismal font the nightingales sang
I would like to be the sunshine to enter through your window
to wish you good morning while you're lying in your bed
I would like to be a Saint John I would like to be a Saint Peter
To sing to you with the music of heaven
Of the stars in the sky I have to lower two for you
One with which to greet you and the other to wish you goodbye.
To sing to you with the music of heaven
Of the stars in the sky I have to lower two for you
One with which to greet you and the other to wish you goodbye.
The coolest lyrics ever!

The Wedding
Stephen and Jessica's wedding finally arrived and it was fabulous. They were a beautiful couple.
The bride's beautiful and fashion forward dress was amazing and her personalized Converse Chucks showed her fun and youthful spirit; the groom's desire to incorporate his love of soccer (Manchester United) was beautifully displayed via the groom's cake, which was magnificently topped with a soccer player and ball. The ceremony, the music, the attendees, the food, everything was great.
Many family and friends traveled great distances to honor Jessica and Stephen; as the saying goes....a great time was had by all.

Starting something new.....how fun
Doing a blog calls for major file organization, especially since I want to include many pictures. Creating a file hierarchy is SO time consuming but necessary and saves time in the end. Pictures are the meat of my blog, so I spent hours yesterday and early this morning downloading, uploading, deleting, sorting, etc., and I was concentrating only on my camera files. lol I have yet to review at least a gazillion PC photo files. GEE!!!
I will be adding more pictures and adding to my Flicker account ASAP. I will also get categories, labels, buttons, and all that good stuff that comes with blogging.
Hmmm, sounds like a few busy days ahead for me. In the meantime, here are a few pictures of what's blooming around here. Enjoy!

Down goes the tree.
Our tree was just too big. The roots were causing damage to our sidewalks, killing the grass, etc. We really had no choice but to remove the tree or deal with the consequences. So even though we hated losing our tree, it was the solution.
The kids were all here and we had a great lunch.together.
